Hi.

I'm just another mom, trying my best not to be basic.

Breastfeeding Friendly Summer Wedding Dresses

Breastfeeding Friendly Summer Wedding Dresses

Since I’ve become of a certain age, June has always been a wedding heavy month. Like most other gals of the same certain age, I’d spend a day shopping in frustration, and then settle for purchasing a dress or two at (the now defunct) BCBG and pray that no one was wearing the same dress that day. Add a post baby bod, with very much still baby-feeding boobies, and now the challenge is exponentially greater. Lucky for you dear readers, I’ve done the internet research and curated this tiny collection of nursing (or lets be honest, pump and dump) friendly wedding guest dresses. These are not specifically breastfeeding dresses which I’ve always found to be revolting and over priced, but they allow for access to your boobies while letting you feel super stylish, and dare I say, normal?!

For the record, I’ve never had a huge chest, so this dressing to accommodate any sort of boobies thing is all very new to me.

1.  This Mara Hoffman dress is basically what I want to live in everyday. Its flowy, the colours are many and bright, and it would accommodate many a trip to the dessert bar. I can imagine this dress with some big earrings, nude heels, and hair up for a wedding. But styled with a causal flat it would be great for a summer patio lunch.

2.     As always, Bauble Bar is the go to for statement jewels. This necklace would fit the bill for any wedding and paired with an all white jeans and tank would be great for knocking around some rose with your girlfriends (big or small!)

3.     Again, a Bauble Bar stunner. If you’re going to be away from your baby (at least at a reception) why not take advantage and wear the type of jewels you can’t wear while breastfeeding usually for fear of blinding your baby? That is a definite selling feature for getting a night out sans baby- opportunity to wear your most dangerous neckwear.

4.     Another Mara Hoffman beauty. I actually saw this on Blair Starky of The Fox and She (What? You don’t follow her? Go now, I’ll wait). She is not a breastfeeding mom, but that goes to show that you can adapt mainstream pieces that you love to suit the new function of your bod. The handy dandy tie front of this dress may not be for my bigger busted friends, but you can’t win ‘em all ladies.

5.     White and Blue stripes? Sold! Off the shoulder with an elasticized neck makes for easy access and you can feel a little sexy on the dance floor. Just make sure you have a good strapless bra if you’re planning to really get down.

6.     The mother of all nursing bras. Sexy lace, soft cups, and a great racer back in case you’re wearing an open back outfit. Why not show it off!

7.     Spanx. Amen. Halleluiah. Praise be. And also, DUH.

8.     Ditch that mom sized suitcase you schelp around everyday for something smaller, yet still large enough to house your breast pump if you’re planning a quicky. Not the kind that results in babies, the kind that gives your boobies sweet relief. This little cross body from Indigo can be used off duty too!

9.     Classic black, off the shoulder, ruffles. This dress would be great for a more formal wedding reception. I love the idea of off the shoulder dresses with stunner earrings and hair pulled back. This may be my go to wedding dress this summer.

10. The wrap neckline on this dress could easily accommodate feeding your baby discreetly, or make for an easy pumping session in the ladies room. I think this would be great with a lacy nursing bra like the one I linked above.

11. A nude, heeled sandal is a staple in any summer wardrobe. This one from Sole Society gets rave reviews from actual fashion bloggers, so regular folks like us don’t have to suffer through the blistery hell that is finding a good shoe.

Happy Champagne Sipping!
