Hi.

I'm just another mom, trying my best not to be basic.

Tiny Treats- Takesumi Dextox Charcoal Deodorant

Tiny Treats- Takesumi Dextox Charcoal Deodorant

Lately, self-care seems to be the word on everyone's lips. Let the record show that I am all for this, in theory. But in practice, I struggle to find the time for a 12-step Japanese facial routine or a 60-minute power yoga sweat session. I always feel rejuvenated when I deliberately treat myself, and those times were more frequent before I became a mom, since I had more time and more disposable income (though I didn’t appreciate it at the time.)  As a mom, I need indulgent and quick, yet luxurious and easy on the old pocket book. Anything that is both ‘treat yo self’ but also ‘contribute to your child’s RESP’.

Because I’m here to serve, I’ve decided to do the hard work for you. Welcome to a new series on That Girl Britt-- Tiny Treats. I’m reviewing a monthly treat for Moms that I actually purchased and loved. These treats are anything that tickled my fancy at that moment in time, but cost less than $30

First up-- Takesumi Detox Charcoal Deodorant ($9.50)

Wait, what!? I thought this was supposed to be an indulgence? Well, here's the real thing, I HATE the smell of deodorant, like almost more than I hate the smell of B.O. I've tried every drugstore brand (and even some fancy pants kinds) but something is always lacking. With the exception of my favorite, LOVEFRESH Orange and Patchouli, I am tormented each day with the crisis, is today an important day/will I meet someone important today and thus wear deodorant?

I had a generous offer from my MIL to babysit, and I had a pile of Ten Spot gift cards burning a hole in my wallet, so I took some well deserved mom-time at the spa to prepare for summer. This is definitely a TREAT but the bill was not a tiny one...which brings me to the Takesumi Detox Deodorant, the hero of this story.

Since the warmer weather is here (and I'm still enduring the embarrassing side effect from breastfeeding) I needed to replenish my LOVEFRESH supply. But I spied this tiny product accompanied by handy infographic outlining the 4 stages of the detox. Interesting concept...but all I really care about is if it will help me not smell like a teenage boy after wrestling practice. And since we're all trying our best to make healthy choices in this world of chemicals, why not try a little TLC for your precious pits?

After one week, I'm happy to report things are fresh and I'm no longer tormented by the decision of synthetic or au natural armpits. And since little luxuries are just that, little, every morning (and sometimes afternoon) I get to indulge in this Tiny Treat.

Moms, what are you favourite ways to indulge?
